Vintage 1948 Martin “40” Outboard Motor
Hard to find in this original condition with factory paint, original decals, untouched patina, and complete lower unit. These early post-war Martin motors were built in Eau Claire, Wisconsin by the National Pressure Cooker Company (same company that later became Mirro).
This one is untested, but the prop spins smoothly and the motor gives that “put-put” sound — compression feels solid. No attempts have been made to start it, fuel it, or restore it. Exactly how collectors like them.
Details:
• 1948 Martin “40” (2hp class)
• Original decals + paint — untouched patina
• Pull start intact
• Throttle and controls move freely
• Prop spins, lower unit turns smoothly
• Compression feels good when spinning by hand
• Great candidate for restoration or display
• Perfect for cabin, bar, lodge, garage, or vintage boat decor
These motors are getting harder to find with original finish, since most were repainted or stripped.
