Black Australorp Chicken Info
Australorp chickens are a dual-purpose chicken. The birds we have are a solid black with white down feathers. They lay a large, light brown egg. Ours were very hardy this past winter and consistently laid eggs except for the coldest week this winter. Ours are also "free range" and are excellent foragers. In fact, the adults would rather forage than eat layer crumbles or grain.
