Gibson Les Paul Goldtop with P90's.
I bought this new in 2022. I have kept it in its case on my property when not playing it. I have loved this guitar. I have taken care of this guitar. But, Standard 50's guitars have 'Vintage 50's' necks and my 55 year old hands just can't shred on it. It is not as thick of a neck as one may think, but it is thicker than a 'slim taper.' Actually, I always preferred (past tense) a thicker neck because there is more leverage for barring and fretting...less fatiguing. Most non-shredding guitar players, male or female, over the age of 16 with average to large hands will enjoy this neck.
All hand-wired with orange potentiometers. Weight: 10 lbs.
The small metallic gold flakes in the finish are quite mesmerizing and the gold seems to shimmer into a red gold as one moves the guitar in the light.
The fretboard is really dark and lovely. In certain light it looks like ebony.
Everything is original save for swapping out strap buttons for Dunlop Straploks. I have the originals too. I set it up with Ernie Ball Super Slinkies (9s).
Neck joints are clean and solid. I polished the frets and they are fine. Oiled the fretboard. She's ready to go.
Comes with a case and all the trappings, i.e. strap, great guitar tool, polishing cloth, literature, etc.
This is a mellow guitar, like our old Great Pyrenees who used to let my kids jump up and down on her. This guitar has an even temperament and tonal palette. The few doors of the 'jazz room' that are open to me sounded apposite. Of course, I was mainly blasting Fairies Wear Boots and Electric Funeral with it. Either way this old girl was just fine with it. She's a beauty (this one's a female) and I'll miss her.
